The Year 3 & 4 BLUE Box is ideally designed for children of this age group who have a single-minded focus. They are children who enjoy conventional play and can generally complete an off-screen activity from start to finish without losing too much interest or becoming easily bored, frustrated or distracted. Children who are easily distracted/frustrated are better suited to our ORANGE box, as are children, who just by their very nature prefer to dabble with toys and activities or prefer to complete tasks over multiple sessions.

So in a nutshell, the BLUE box is all about sustained play, while the ORANGE Box is all about dabbling or tinkering, which has a bigger focus on sensory play. So choose the box that best fits your child’s play preferences, which may change over time.

If you select the BLUE Box, you will generally find activities that take a little longer to complete than in the ORANGE Box. However, there is definitely some overlap between the two boxes, as interests tend to be similar and every child can benefit from some form of sensory play!

The Year 3-4 ORANGE Box is ideally designed for the child who prefers to dabble or tinker with toys and activities, rather than become engrossed in a single activity or toy for a lengthy period of time.

Some children dabble as a function of their personality and or due to a love of tinkering. Other children, who perhaps become easily distracted or battle with sustained concentration also tend to be dabblers, as do children who are used to the instant gratification that screen-time provides. Regardless of the reason for a child’s dabbling, the ORANGE box is designed to suit.

If your child is not a dabbler but prefers to adopt a single minded focus in activities or play, he/she would be better suited to our BLUE box requiring sustained engagement/attention. 

So in a nutshell,  the ORANGE Box is all about dabbling or tinkering, which has a bigger focus on sensory play and the BLUE box is all about sustained play. So choose the box that best fits your child’s play preferences, which may also change over time.
